TFA 2020 Southeast Asia Regional Meeting

Partnerships for Forests’ South East Asia team participated in the Tropical Forest Alliance 2020 Southeast Asia Regional Meeting in Jakarta on 19 October, 2017. The meeting brought together TFA 2020 partners and supporters in Southeast Asia to explore how public-private collaboration can advance shared objectives of deforestation-free commodity supply chains at the regional level.

Discussions revolved around how to work together in pursuit of the following regional agendas:

  • Engaging smallholder farmers and independent third party suppliers in deforestation-free supply chains
  • Partnering with the government in peat conservation and restoration efforts in Indonesia
  • Supporting Jurisdictional Leadership for Sustainable Commodity Production

In addition, participants discussed how TFA 2020 as a platform can accelerate the process and amplify the impacts of partners’ actions at the regional and global levels going forward.

Partnerships for Forests gave participants a debrief on the 2017 Southeast Asia Implementation Dialogue, as well as facilitating a breakout session on Supporting Jurisdictional Leadership For Sustainable Commodity Production.
