Partnerships for Forests West and Central Africa team took part in the Tropical Forest Alliance 2020 Africa Palm Oil Initiative Regional Meeting held in Libreville, Gabon on October 12-13, 2017.
The meeting brought together delegates from government, companies and civil society organisations from 10 Central and West African palm oil producing countries to discuss how public-private collaboration with support from the civil society can help guide responsible palm oil development in Africa. The meeting also introduced the Cocoa and Forests Initiative, and invited delegates to explore shared actions to halt deforestation across both the oil palm and cocoa supply chains.
Jeremiah Bentum, Project Coordinator for the WCA team, gave a presentation on Partnerships for Forests, highlighting the programme’s objectives, our regional strategy for targeted commodities (cocoa and palm oil), achievements so far and a number of case studies from our portfolio.
