Aliet Green is a female-owned social enterprise that produces and trades organic coconut sugar from Yogyakarta, Indonesia, with a focus on empowering female farmers. The company works closely with over 1,000 smallholder farmers (90% women, and ~1% farmers with a disability) under sustainable farming principles. It has obtained major international certifications for its products (e.g., Fairtrade, BRC Global Standard for Food Safety and gluten free). Aliet Green is also a woman-owned dynamic agroforestry business. It has a strong presence in the global high-end markets for food ingredients, to which it exports 100% of its products. In 2020, the company sold USD 4.9m worth of organic coconut sugar products and plans to double its production over the next five years.
